Mission Statement
Greater Fort Worth Creative Problem Solving Organization is part of Destination Imagination (DI), a non-profit organization that fosters creativity, critical thinking and teamwork in students from around the world. Founded in 1982, Destination Imagination's vision is to teach students the creative process and empower them with the skills needed to succeed in an ever-changing world. Destination Imagination emphasizes project-based learning with a focus on STEM.

The Destination Imagination program is a fun, hands-on system of learning that fosters students’ creativity, courage and curiosity through open-ended academic Challenges in the fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), fine arts and service learning. In DI, students learn patience, flexibility, persistence, ethics, respect for others and their ideas, and the collaborative problem solving process. DI provides learning opportunities to students from kindergarten up to the university level. Every year, teams of students in groups of 2-7 select a challenge and work for several months developing a solution to the challenge.

These challenges cover seven areas of focus: technical, scientific, engineering, fine arts, improvisational, service learning and early learning. DI follows a strict policy of "no interference." A team's solution to their challenge is their own: from brainstorming and planning to execution, without interference by parents, teachers, friends or their team manager. The Greater Fort Worth Region is one of 16 regions that make up the Texas Destination Imagination affiliate. Not only is the Texas affiliate the biggest Destination Imagination affiliate, but the GFW region is one of the state's largest, serving more than 1000 students.

Our mission is to inspire the students in GFW DI to imagine and innovate today so they become the creative and collaborative leaders of tomorrow.
